Who could stop Ankie Timmers? The answer is: nobody. Despite coming back from a serious injury, the COSL cadre d’élite athlete managed to secure not only first place at the European Equipped Championships in Pilsen, but also the third-best overall lifter title with 100,05 Goodlift points.

Timmers was first on the starting list – although, as we were proven by Emma Weydert a few days ago, this ranking can change and lead to unexpected outcomes. Nonetheless, things stayed this way in the -84 kg Open category, with the Luxembourgish athlete getting into the race with a 225 kg squat.

Viewers also witnessed a new World Open women’s Equipped record squat of 280,5 kg, set by her fiercest competitor and silver medalist, Denmark’s Karen Thrige Andersen.

However, nothing was decided yet as the second round saw Timmers display her massive strength and technique in the bench press, leaving the other competitors behind with a 195 kg attempt. An impressive feat, especially considering the injury and long recovery process, and not far away from her 207,5 personal best. Timmers managed to confirm her head start with a 212,5 deadlift and won gold with a total of 632,5 kg.

For national trainer Alain Hammang, this is a promising performance in preparation for the upcoming World Games in Chengdu (China).
